This past Friday, I packed up my booth and hit the road for the 2nd Friday event in Minerva, Ohio — and whew, let me tell you, vendor setup is always a workout!  Between hauling bins, organizing displays, and trying to keep my hair from looking like I’ve been in a wind tunnel... it’s a lot. But honestly? It’s always worth it. This event was especially important for me. I’ve had a LOT of inventory sitting — not because it isn’t great stuff (it is!), but because I just haven’t done enough events or promoted like I should. Life happens. I’m a full-time mom, partner, caregiver, scheduler, social media manager, nurse-caller, referee, snack-fetcher… you name it. My business tends to take the back seat to everything and everyone else. So when I do  get a chance to show up in person, it means something. This time, I wanted to really make a dent in my stock. So I brought back one of my biggest hits — the mystery bags.  And let me tell you, they did not  disappoint. Each bag was loaded with surprise goodies — tumblers, apparel, home décor, Croc charms, badge reels, and more. The values ranged from $11 to $65, and I was selling them for just $5.  Yep. FIVE. One woman came by and grabbed 12 bags right off the bat  (she’s my kind of shopper!) and after that, they flew off the table. But I’ll be honest — the start of the event was sloooow. I was starting to doubt myself and thinking, “Okay, at least cover the vendor fee and maybe dinner.” But as the crowd picked up, so did the sales. I sold a lot , but everything was priced so low I probably just broke even with supply costs. Definitely no profit. But that’s okay — this wasn’t about profit. It was about clearing out old stock, making room for new ideas, and reconnecting with the community.  And I did all of that. 💛 I’ll be back at next month’s 2nd Friday event  — so if you missed out, don’t worry! Yeah, that’s a vendor event for a small business owner like me. 😅 💬 The Truth About Vendor Events (Behind the Booth) To many, vendor events might just look like rows of tables filled with crafts, clothes, and maybe a few snacks. But to me? It’s a front-row seat to watch dreams bloom. 🌱🌟 Every time I set up my TashMade Shop booth, I’m not just showcasing products—I’m sharing pieces of my passion, creativity, and hustle. It’s not just about sales (though let’s be real, those 💵 help pay the vendor fee, restock supplies, and fuel the next idea). It’s about connection. During these events, I’ve met: ✨ Customers who turned into loyal supporters ✨ Strangers who lit up over a custom item ✨ Couples who circled back when I least expected it 📦 A Memorable Moment at a Vendor Event At one of my past events, a couple spotted a bag with a fun design and lit up instantly. They admired it and shared how much they loved it, but ultimately chose not to purchase. I casually mentioned, “Any design you see can also go on a shirt!” 👕 They left… but not for long. A few hours later, they returned. They had a group trip to Hawaii 🌴 coming up and wanted matching shirts for the whole crew, featuring that exact design. Four days later, I delivered their bulk order. They were obsessed. 😍 A few days after that, they reached out again to order even more! That right there? That’s the kind of magic vendor events create. 💡 Why Vendor Events Matter Every vendor fee I pay, every early morning I pack up the car, and every long day spent standing, smiling, and hustling… 💖 It’s all worth it. 💖 These events help me to: ✅ Grow my brand ✅ Meet new faces ✅ Stay connected to my why Right now, this shop might not be bringing in big bucks, but it’s building something meaningful—and that’s priceless. 🙏✨ The Evolution of My Business In the beginning, I didn’t fully understand the potential of vendor events. When you shop small, you're not just buying a product — you're fueling a dream. ✨ A Real Moment That Meant the World A woman contacted me in a pinch — she had been called to substitute teach the very next day  and needed a school pride shirt  fast. The local shops were either already closed or didn’t have what she was looking for. She was stressed. Time was tight. But I said, “I got you.” Within a couple of hours, I created a custom sublimation tee  with her school’s colors and logo — ready just in time for her to walk in confident and spirited the next morning. Since then, I’ve been able to help others gift special items — to loved ones and even to themselves. That’s what makes all the late nights and messy tables worth it. Color & Style Approval:  Once we lock in the design, you approve the shirt color and style. When I took my first steps on this journey back in 2020, I could hardly imagine where it would lead. Standing at the beginning of a long path filled with both hopes and fears, I felt overwhelmed. Fast forward four years, and I can look back with immense gratitude for the wonderful support I have received along the way. Each order I received brought not just joy but also valuable opportunities for growth. Your support has been crucial in shaping TashMade, and I want to celebrate every one of you who has been part of this journey. The Journey So Far Starting was definitely not easy. I faced numerous challenges, from self-doubt to logistical issues. Yet, each order sparked renewed motivation. It wasn’t only about creating products; it was about building connections and bringing happiness into your lives. TashMade has also acted as a source of income for my family, contributing to our monthly expenses. In fact, since launching, I have seen a great growth in sales. But more than money, my true motivation has always been the smiles and joy my creations bring. The Power of Customization Creating customized products is one of the most rewarding parts of TashMade. For example, a customer ordered a custom t-shirt for her grandson. They had been searching for anything with his favorite character on it but they could not find anything as its not mass produced. He was jumping around and yelling and hugging his t-shirt. Seeing the that little boys face when he received it was something I’ll never forget. These custom items allow you as the customer to express your uniqueness in ways that store-bought products often cannot and also helps me to learn and grow in my creative abilities. Each personalized order serves as inspiration, encouraging me to experiment with new ideas. This connection is what fuels my passion and creativity in crafting your unique items. Embracing Creativity Crafting is not just a job; it is a passion. Making items by hand unlocks my creative potential. I have taken on challenges like learning to work with new materials and improving my crafting techniques. Mistakes have taught me valuable lessons and sparked innovative ideas. For instance, after struggling with the limits and quality of HTV, I started researching how to improve the quality of my apparel. Once I learned of DTF prints and working with other businesses all over the US, I found a local small business that I now work with and I have been able to drasticly improve the quality of my apparel and create items that are the same quality as department stores. Each hurdle has helped shape me into a more skilled maker. Community Support I cannot stress enough how essential your support has been. Every encouraging word and order has fueled TashMade's journey. Knowing that families rely on my creations adds a layer of responsibility that I hold dear. The interactions I’ve had, whether through social media or in-person events, have created a network filled with encouragement and inspiration.
